Screened porch..3-seasons room...or both!
When James and Judith Miller wanted the benefits of a 3-Seasons room AND screen porch overlooking their pool, we had the perfect solution.
Judith explained, "We wanted to enjoy the unobstructed breeze during the day, but James worried about protecting the interior of the addition during bad weather. We weren't sure how to go about realizing the benefits of both types of additions."
For the past twenty years, Barron and Jacobs has been deeply involved with the development and improvement of the Artistic Enclosures Window Wall system. The most recent development of this product incorporates a unique window: a sliding unit that is easily converted to a European style in-swinging casement window with full screens.
The windows are a miracle unto themselves; they BOTH swing AND slide independently of each other. They can be wide open on warm days, or one side of the room can slide shut if it gets too breezy. At night or in inclement weather, the windows can be quickly closed. By simply activating the in-swinging feature, the Miller's can convert their 3-Seasons room into a screen porch with 100% ventilation.
Another benefit of the Window Wall system is it's wide expanse of
unobstructed glass, available in low-e insulated glass for heated additions.
As a finishing touch, trapezoid glass was installed in the gables to enhance the cathedral ceiling and large venting skylights were added to help bring in both the sunlight and moonlight. Judith articulates, "Not only is the view from the room beautiful during the day, but the illuminated room looks beautiful from the pool at night."
