Bright design for an even brighter outlook!
Before her kitchen was remodeled, Michelle Morgan stared at a wall when washing dishes in the dark and gloomy kitchen of her Amherst home. The cabinets were outdated with dark wood, lighting was poor, storage was minimal, and there was virtually no usable counter space.
With over 20 years of kitchen designing experience, Barron & Jacobs president Cecil Jacobs was called in to consult:
"The Morgan's problems are typical, as it is very common for people to be frustrated with their older kitchen. As the central area of the home, it is important that the kitchen be tailored to a family's needs to provide true function and comfort. As a Design/Build company, we are able to look past the existing building design to suggest structural changes. Removing a wall, adding a skylight and cathedral ceiling, relocating the entrance, adding an island, and putting in larger windows are often part of a Barron & Jacobs design. Just changing cabinets or countertops will seldom solve my clients' problems. Many times, the only answer is to add a kitchen addition."
In Michelle's kitchen there is now a garden window, twelve-foot wide Anderson French doors, a new island, computer space for her children, recessed ceiling lighting, task lighting to illuminate the counter space, and to add a warm touch, a new view of the fireplace in the family room.
Michelle also now enjoys a beautiful garden window over her kitchen sink, from here she watches her children as they enjoy the pool and also the sky as it changes color over the distant mountains.
"It's much more functional," Michelle says of her new kitchen, "It makes me happy to be in it."
